If you're heading to Sedona, did you know that the Grand Canyon is not far away?
There are many ways to get to the Canyon, you can drive, take a train, or take a tour.
Drive: From our homes the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2.5 hours away by car. When you drive you can choose your own adventure and timeline. Stop at the visitors center and grab a map to see the best lookout points and hiking trails. If you'd rather stay in your car take Desert View Drive (also known as East View Drive) east from the visitors center for a 26 mile journey along the South Rim with plenty of areas to stop along the way to take in the fantastic views.
Train: The Grand Canyon Railway is a great option if you don't want to drive. You can find their schedule and information at www.thetrain.com. We've done this route several times and always have a blast! (The train even turns into the Polar Express in the winter!). The Train leaves out of Williams, AZ and takes about 3 hours to arrive at the South Rim. You can pack your own snacks and bring a cooler on board, they even have cowboys to entertain you on your journey.
Tours: If you want to get the most out of your day at the Canyon we highly recommend catching a tour with Grand Canyon Adventures at www.dothecanyon.com. They are family owned and offer several types of tours from a day trip to several day adventures. In addition to exploring the Grand Canyon, they can also escort you to the famous Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend areas of Page, AZ. Let the experts be your guide (and your driver!) so you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Northern Arizona!
